The Governor-General can make regulations about international flights. You need to know that these regulations can include rules about payments to people under the Montreal Convention. The Governor-General can also update or replace the text of the Montreal Convention in the law, which is found in Schedule 6.

The Governor-General can make rules about how airlines pay people under the Montreal Convention. These rules can be about how much money airlines pay and how they make these payments.

When the Governor-General makes these regulations, they are a type of law called secondary legislation, which has its own rules for publication, as explained in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
