Civil Aviation Act 2023

Functions, powers, and duties of participants in civil aviation system - Regulatory roles - CAA

29: Use of words Civil Aviation Authority or CAA

You could also call this:

"Only the CAA can use the name 'Civil Aviation Authority' or 'CAA' unless they give permission"

Illustration for Civil Aviation Act 2023

You cannot use the words Civil Aviation Authority or CAA in your business name unless you are the CAA. You also cannot use a name that is very similar to Civil Aviation Authority or CAA, because it might confuse people. The CAA can give you permission to use these words or a similar name if they want to.

You do not have to follow this rule if the CAA says you can use the words Civil Aviation Authority or CAA. This rule is similar to one in the 1990 No 98 legislation. The CAA gets to decide who can use the words Civil Aviation Authority or CAA in their business name.
