Civil Aviation Act 2023

Airports - Airport operators

227: Airport to be Government work

You could also call this:

"Airports can be treated as Government projects, meaning the Crown builds or manages them."

When you look at an airport, you might wonder who is in charge of it. For the purposes of the Public Works Act 1981, some airports are treated as Government work. This means the airport is something the Crown is allowed to build or manage.

The Crown must be responsible for the airport and be able to construct, manage or maintain it. You can find more information about what the Crown can do in the Public Works Act 1981. This rule has some exceptions, which are explained in section 234.
