Civil Aviation Act 2023

International aviation - International air carriage competition

198: Powers of Minister to prohibit disclosure of information, documents, and evidence

You could also call this:

"The Minister can stop people from sharing certain information to keep it secret."

The Minister can make an order to stop people sharing information, documents, or evidence related to an application for authorisation. You cannot publish or communicate this information if the Minister makes such an order. This order can also stop people giving evidence that involves this information.

The Minister can decide how long the order lasts. The order will have an end date, which is specified in the order. If the Minister makes a final decision on the application, the order will end 20 working days later.

If someone withdraws their application, the order will end on the day they withdraw it. When the order ends, the Official Information Act 1982 will apply to the information, documents, or evidence that were subject to the order.

If you share information, documents, or evidence that you are not supposed to, you can get in trouble. You might have to pay a fine if you do this - up to $7,500 if you are an individual, or up to $25,000 if you are another type of person.
