Civil Aviation Act 2023

Functions, powers, and duties of participants in civil aviation system - Registries and information services

36: New Zealand Register of Aircraft

You could also call this:

"A list of all aircraft in New Zealand that the CAA must keep up to date"

The CAA has to keep a record of all aircraft in New Zealand. You can think of this record as a big list of all the aircraft in the country. The CAA must keep this list up to date and follow any rules that are set.

The CAA must put details of each aircraft in the record if the Director has given the aircraft a certificate of registration under section 37(2). This means the CAA will have information about every aircraft that has been registered. The details that are kept will be the ones that are decided by the rules.
