If you are on a plane, there are rules to protect you if something goes wrong. These rules say how much money the airline must pay if you get hurt or your things get damaged. But if the airline does something on purpose to hurt you or your things, they might have to pay more.

If the airline does something very careless and it hurts you or your things, they might also have to pay more. You can find out more about these rules in section 277. The airline's actions must be very bad for these extra rules to apply.
