The Director can choose an area inside a special aerodrome or navigation installation and mark it as an airside security area with signs around the edge. You will know it is an airside security area because of the signs the Director puts up. The Director has the power to decide which areas are airside security areas.

The Director can also pick a part of the airside security area and declare it a security enhanced area, and they will let people know about this in an appropriate way. This means some areas will have extra security measures in place. The Director decides which areas need extra security.
