This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

232: Cancellation of certification

You could also call this:

"When a pistol range is not used safely or correctly, its certification can be cancelled."

Illustration for Arms Bill

The chief executive may cancel a pistol shooting range's certification if they think the range is not being used correctly. You might see this happen if the range is not being operated safely or if the operator is not following rules. The chief executive will look at things like what is said in section 228 of the proposed law and whether the operator is complying with conditions set out in section 230. The chief executive can also cancel certification if the range operator does not fix problems after getting an improvement notice under section 243. If the range is not being used as a pistol shooting range anymore, the chief executive may cancel its certification. The chief executive has to be satisfied that one of these reasons applies before they can cancel the certification. The proposed law says the chief executive can cancel certification for these reasons, which include not operating the range safely or not following the rules. You can look at sections like section 230 and section 228 to understand what conditions and matters the chief executive will consider. The chief executive's decision will be based on whether the range operator is doing what they are supposed to do.
