This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Illustration for Arms Bill

If you have a licence with an endorsement, it stays in force as long as your licence is valid. You keep the endorsement until your licence is no longer valid. There is a special rule for animal and biosecurity controllers with a firearms licence. If you are an animal and biosecurity controller, your endorsement lasts for 5 years or until your licence is surrendered, revoked, or expires. This means you will lose the endorsement if something happens to your licence. You will know when the endorsement ends because it is tied to the date your licence is no longer valid or the 5-year mark. You should check the dates to know when your endorsement will end. The endorsement will end on the earlier of the two dates: 5 years after it was made or when your licence is no longer valid. This helps you keep track of when your endorsement is still in force.
