This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Arms Bill

General requirements - Requirements for possession of restricted firearms, restricted magazines, restricted parts, and restricted ammunition - Requirements for possession of restricted firearms

33: Exception if repairs or modifications to restricted firearm undertaken by licensed business

You could also call this:

"Getting your restricted firearm repaired or modified by a licensed business has some special rules."

Illustration for Arms Bill

If you own a restricted firearm and take it to a licensed business for repairs or modifications, you might not have to follow the usual rules. You can get your restricted firearm back from the licensed business after repairs or modifications if you get it back within 7 days. The licensed business must give you your restricted firearm back within 7 days after they get it for repairs or modifications. If a licensed business is fixing or modifying your restricted firearm, they do not have to follow certain rules. They must return your restricted firearm to you within 7 days of getting it for repairs or modifications. When we talk about modifying a restricted firearm, we also mean permanently deactivating it, which means making it so it cannot be used as a firearm anymore.
