If you get a special endorsement on your licence for a restricted firearm or restricted magazine, you must follow some rules. You can only use the restricted firearm or restricted magazine for the reason stated on your endorsement. You must also follow all the security rules for storing and keeping the restricted firearm or restricted magazine, as set out in the regulations. The person in charge can add more conditions for using or storing the restricted firearm or restricted magazine if they think it is necessary. If you are an animal and biosecurity controller with a restricted firearm or restricted magazine endorsement, you must tell the chief executive if anything changes that might affect your entitlement to the endorsement, 2 years and 6 months after you got it.

188Further conditions of endorsement in respect of restricted firearm or restricted magazine

  1. An endorsement on a licence in respect of a restricted firearm or restricted magazine made under section 185 is subject to the following conditions:

  2. the holder of the licence may only possess and use the restricted firearm or restricted magazine in the capacity specified in their endorsement; and
    1. the holder of the licence must observe in respect of every restricted firearm or restricted magazine in their possession all security precautions required by regulations.

      1. The chief executive may impose any other conditions with regard to the use or custody of the restricted firearm or restricted magazine that the chief executive considers appropriate.

      2. An animal and biosecurity controller whose firearms licence bears an endorsement in respect of a restricted firearm or restricted magazine must, 2 years and 6 months after the endorsement is made, advise the chief executive whether there has been any change in circumstances affecting their entitlement to an endorsement.
