This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Arms Bill

Miscellaneous provisions - Appeals

342: Appeal in respect of compensation

You could also call this:

"Challenging the amount of money you get for a taken arms item"

Illustration for Arms Bill

You can appeal if you disagree with the amount of compensation you get for an arms item, ammunition, or explosive. The compensation must not be more than the item's actual market value. If there is a dispute, you can ask a District Court Judge to make a decision. You make this request to the court using an originating application. The Judge's decision is usually final, but there is an exception in section 343. This means the Judge's decision can be final, but you should check section 343 for more information. The court will help resolve the dispute about the compensation amount. You need to follow the correct process to ask the court for help. The Judge will make a decision based on the information provided.
