This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

You could also call this:

"A committee reviews gun licence decisions in small fair groups."

Illustration for Arms Bill

The proposed law says the Firearms Licensing Review Committee will work in groups of 3 members. You will see that each group has a lawyer and two other people appointed by the responsible Minister. The chief executive decides which members are in each group and which group does each review. The chief executive makes sure the person who made the original decision is not in the group that reviews it. This is to ensure the review is fair. The groups can work on different reviews at the same time. The proposed law sets out how the Review Committee will work. You can see that it is about making sure reviews are done properly. The chief executive has an important role in making sure this happens.
