277: Revocation of infringement notice before payment made

"When Can an Infringement Notice be Cancelled Before You Pay?"

Illustration for Arms Bill

If you get an infringement notice, an officer of the Arms Regulator can cancel it before you pay the fee. They can also cancel it before a court orders you to pay a fine under section 21 of the Summary Proceedings Act 1957. The officer must tell you that your notice has been cancelled. If the officer cancels your infringement notice before you pay, it does not stop any further action from happening. This is as described in section 275(1) and it is about the same matter. The officer will take steps to make sure you know your notice has been cancelled. The cancellation of your notice is not the end of the matter. You might still face further action for the same thing. The officer must make sure you are aware that your notice is no longer valid.
