349Obligation to provide information to arms registry

  1. This section applies to the following persons:

  2. every holder of a firearms licence:
    1. every holder of a business licence:
      1. every holder of a curator licence:
        1. every other person who is or intends to be in possession of an arms item.
          1. This section also applies to the following events in relation to any firearm or other item regulated by or under this Act:

          2. its sale or supply, excluding a temporary transfer:
            1. its purchase or receipt, excluding a temporary transfer:
              1. its importation:
                1. its exportation:
                  1. its manufacture:
                    1. its theft, loss, or destruction:
                      1. any other event specified for the purpose of this section in regulations made under section 362.
                        1. A person to whom this section applies, and a person who has responsibilty in relation to any event to which this section applies, must provide the relevant details to the chief executive in accordance with the prescribed time and any other prescribed requirements.

                        2. In this section, temporary transfer

                        3. means a transfer of possession of the firearm (not being a pistol, restricted weapon, restricted magazine, or restricted firearm) or other item for less than 30 days; but
                          1. includes—
                            1. the return of a pistol or restricted weapon by a licensed business to the owner within 7 days following repair:
                              1. the transfer of restricted firearms and restricted magazines between employees of an animal and biosecurity controller that are being shared under a multi-user agreement.
