This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

If you carry a standard firearm, airgun, pistol, imitation firearm, restricted weapon, ammunition, or explosive, you can get in trouble. You must not have these items with you if you plan to commit a serious crime or stop the police from arresting you or someone else. If you do, you could go to prison for up to 7 years. If someone is accused of this offence, the court can use certain evidence to decide if they are guilty. This evidence includes proof that the person had the item with them and planned to commit a crime or stop an arrest. This can help show that the person intended to use the item for a criminal purpose. You could be in trouble if you have one of these items and plan to do something wrong with it. The police and courts take this very seriously and you could face serious penalties. It is important to remember that having these items with you can lead to big problems if you plan to use them for the wrong reasons.
