This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Arms Bill

General requirements - Requirements for importing arms items, air pistol carbine conversion kits, and ammunition

56: Requirement for importing restricted ammunition

You could also call this:

"Importing restricted ammo into NZ: you need a permit and permission"

Illustration for Arms Bill

If you want to import restricted ammunition into New Zealand, you can only do so if you are allowed to have it under this proposed law and you have a permit to import it. You need to meet both of these conditions. The proposed law considers New Zealand as the land, not including the harbours and waters surrounding it. If you break this proposed rule without a good reason, you could be punished with up to 5 years in prison. This is because you would be committing an offence by not following the proposed rules about importing restricted ammunition. You must have a permit and be allowed to have the ammunition to import it into New Zealand.
