29Requirement for possession of ammunition

  1. A person may only possess ammunition if the person—

  2. holds a firearms licence or visitor licence; or
    1. is, at all times while in possession of the ammunition, under the immediate supervision of a person who holds a firearms licence.
      1. Subsection (1) is subject to any other provision of this Act that provides otherwise.

      2. In subsection (1), ammunition does not include—

      3. ammunition for exempt firearms; and
        1. projectiles for airguns.
          1. A person commits an offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years, or to a fine not exceeding $10,000, if the person, without reasonable excuse, contravenes this section.
