If you are a visitor to New Zealand with a visitor licence, you can possess certain firearms during your stay. You can have a standard firearm, a blank-firing gun, an airgun, or a pistol if your licence allows it. You can also have a standard magazine, a large-capacity pistol magazine if endorsed, non-restricted parts, and ammunition. If you have a visitor licence, you cannot acquire ownership of any firearm or restricted weapon in New Zealand. You also cannot sell any arms items while you are here. If you break these rules without a good reason, you can be fined up to $10,000.
