This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Illustration for Arms Bill

If you get a visitor licence, you must follow some rules. You have to store arms items and ammunition safely. You must act safely when using a standard firearm or pistol. You have to show your firearm or pistol to an officer of the Arms Regulator if they ask. You must let an officer of the Arms Regulator inspect your firearms, where you keep them, and where you keep your ammunition. They can also check the security of your vehicle when you transport firearms. If something changes after you get your licence, you must tell the chief executive if it is something described in section 123(1). When an officer of the Arms Regulator comes to inspect, they must give you at least 7 days' notice and tell you who they are. They must also say why they are inspecting and show you proof that they are an officer if you ask. There are some extra rules if your licence has a special endorsement, which are explained in section 186.
