This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Arms Bill

Licences and approvals - Obligations of licence holders - Notifications

133: Notification of change of address

You could also call this:

"Tell the authorities your new address if you have a gun licence"

Illustration for Arms Bill

If you have a licence and you change your address, you must tell the chief executive in writing within 30 days. You do this so they know where to find you. If you have a special licence that lets you have certain firearms, you must also tell the chief executive how you will keep them safe when you move. If you have one of these special licences, you need to make arrangements to keep your firearms safe when you shift to your new address. You must tell the chief executive about these arrangements. This is an important part of having a licence. If you do not tell the chief executive about your address change, or how you will keep your firearms safe, you can get in trouble. You might have to pay a fine of up to $2,000 if you do not have a good reason for not telling them. You must follow the rules to avoid getting in trouble.
