13: Role of regional authority
or “A regional authority manages and oversees everything to do with dams, including safety and building rules.”

You could also call this:

“Different authorities have special jobs when it comes to buildings with dams”

The regional authority is in charge of handling tasks related to buildings that are dams. If a building includes a dam, the regional authority deals with the dam part, while the building consent authority and territorial authority handle the non-dam parts of the building.

When it comes to dams, the regional authority takes on the roles that building consent authorities and territorial authorities usually have. This includes tasks like giving building consents, inspections, and enforcement.

For buildings that include dams, the building consent authority, territorial authority, and regional authority all have roles to play. They need to work together and share information to make sure they’re doing their jobs properly.

The law says that the building consent authority and territorial authority must do their best to communicate with the regional authority when they’re working on a building that has a dam.
