Building Act 2004

Regulatory responsibilities and accreditation - Responsibilities relating to product certification - Requirements for product certification accreditation body

262: Requirements for product certification accreditation body

You could also call this:

“The boss decides how often building product checkers are checked and what rules they must follow.”

The chief executive must make a notice that says how often the product certification accreditation body needs to check on accredited product certification bodies. The chief executive can also add other important things to this notice.

The chief executive can make another notice that says some certifications for building products or building methods from other countries can be treated the same as product certifications in New Zealand. This can only happen if the chief executive thinks these products or methods meet the rules for certification.

These notices are called secondary legislation. This means they need to follow special rules about how they’re published, which you can find in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
