Building Act 2004

Regulatory responsibilities and accreditation - Responsibilities of chief executive - Functions, duties, and powers of chief executive generally

169: Chief executive must monitor current and emerging trends in building design, etc, and must report annually to Minister

You could also call this:

"The boss of the building department must watch and report on new building trends each year."

The chief executive has to keep an eye on what is happening now and what might happen in the future with building design and technology. You need to know they are watching things that could affect the building code and other important rules. The chief executive must report to the Minister every year about what they have found out.

The chief executive is looking at things like warnings or bans on building products, and information they publish to help people. They are also checking on their own work to make sure they are doing their job properly.

The chief executive has to tell the Minister each year how they are doing their job, including what they have learned from monitoring building design and technology, warnings or bans under section 26(2), and guidance information published under section 175.
