268: Application for product certificate
or “How to ask for a special paper that says a building product is okay to use”

You could also call this:

“Explaining how to get a certificate that says a building product or method is okay to use”

A registered PCB (product certification body) must give you a product certificate for a building product or method if you ask for one. They will only give you the certificate if the product or method meets the rules set by the government. These rules are found in section 402(1)(u)(i) and section 272E(3) of the Building Act.

You can get a single certificate for a building product and method if they are used together. This means you don’t need separate certificates for each.

The certificate will tell you if there are any special things to think about when using the product or method. If there are, it will explain what these things are.

When you ask for a certificate, you must be the owner of the building product or method. You also need to give the PCB any information they ask for.
