Illustration for Building Act 2004

The purpose of section 42B(4) is to ensure you know who did the building work on a small stand-alone dwelling. You need to know who did the work and how to maintain the building. The law does not require the territorial authority to check the information given to them under section 42B(4). You should be aware of this when dealing with building consents.
