133A: Dams to which subpart 7 provisions apply
or “This part of the law explains which rules apply to different types of dams.”

You could also call this:

“This explains how to measure how tall a dam is in different situations.”

You need to know how to measure the height of a dam for this law and any rules made under it. The height is always measured from the top of the dam, but where you measure from the bottom depends on the type of dam:

If the dam is across a stream, you measure from the natural stream bed at the lowest downstream edge of the dam.

For a dam that’s not across a stream, you measure from the lowest point at the edge of the dam.

If it’s a canal, you measure from the bottom of the canal.

This way of measuring applies to all dams covered by this part of the law.
