Building Act 2004

Building - Special provisions for earthquake-prone buildings - Remediation of earthquake-prone buildings

133AMA: Deadline for completing seismic work on or after 2 April 2024

You could also call this:

"Finish seismic work on your building by the deadline, which is 2 April 2024 or later"

If you own a building or part of a building that needs seismic work, this law applies to you. You must complete the seismic work on or before a certain deadline. The deadline is the later of two dates: four years after the original deadline, or the date to which that deadline is extended by an Order in Council, as referred to in section 133AMC.

You need to know what a relevant EPB notice is. It is the current or most recent notice for your building or part of the building. It can also include a reissued notice, for example, if an extension was granted under section 133AO or clause 2 of Schedule 1AA.

If you have a relevant EPB notice, you must complete the seismic work by the deadline.
