Building Act 2004

Building - Building work—Project information memoranda and building consents - Building consents

46: Copy of certain applications for building consent must be provided to Fire and Emergency New Zealand

You could also call this:

“ Some building plans must be shared with firefighters to keep everyone safe. ”

This law is about sharing certain building consent applications with Fire and Emergency New Zealand. The head of the building authority decides which types of applications need to be shared. When they make this decision, they must tell all building consent authorities about it as soon as they can.

If you apply for one of these types of building consents, the building consent authority must give a copy of your application to Fire and Emergency New Zealand.

The head of the building authority’s decision about which applications to share is called “secondary legislation”. This means it follows special rules about how it’s published, which you can find in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
