222: Inspections by territorial authority
or “Special officers can check buildings and land to make sure they are safe and follow the rules.”

You could also call this:

“You must help the inspector check your building or building work.”

You must help an authorised officer inspect a building or building work. This means you need to give them all the help they reasonably need to do their job.

This rule applies to you if you are:

  • The owner of the building
  • Someone who lives in or uses the building
  • Anyone working on the building, including an owner-builder
  • Any unpaid friend or family member helping an owner-builder with their work

Remember, it’s important to cooperate with the authorised officer so they can do their job properly and safely.
