Building Act 2004

Regulatory responsibilities and accreditation - Responsibilities of chief executive - Power to require information and documents

207A: Power to require information or documents

You could also call this:

“The boss can ask for information to help catch rule-breakers or make important decisions.”

The chief executive can ask you to give them information or documents if they think it’s necessary or helpful. They might need this information to take action against someone who isn’t following the rules or to use their powers under section 26.

If the chief executive wants information from you, they will send you a written notice. This notice will tell you what information or documents you need to provide, how you should give it to them, and when you need to do it by.

When you get this notice, you must give the chief executive the information or documents they asked for. You need to do this in the way they specified and by the deadline they set.

After you provide the information or documents, the chief executive is allowed to make copies or keep them.
