279: Effect of appointment
or “Explains what happens when someone is chosen to do a council's job”

You could also call this:

“ The Minister can ask the territorial authority to pay back money spent on doing the authority's job. ”

If the Minister or someone they appoint does work that a territorial authority should have done, they can get the money back from that territorial authority. This work is related to section 277 of the Building Act 2004.

The Minister can get back all the costs, charges, and expenses they had to pay for doing this work. They can do this in two ways. They can ask the territorial authority to pay them back directly. Or, if the Minister owes the territorial authority any money, they can take the amount off what they owe.

This rule applies to all the money spent by the Minister or the person they appointed to do the territorial authority’s job. It doesn’t matter if the money was spent on doing tasks, carrying out duties, or using the powers that the territorial authority usually has.
