You can get a certificate for a modular component if you are a registered MCM (Manufacturer of Certified Modular components) and are certified to make that component. This certificate shows that the component follows the building code or the relevant building consent. You can use this certificate for different purposes mentioned in [sections 19(1)(da), 45(1)(bb) or (bc), and 92(3) or (3A)].

The certificate needs to be in the form approved by the chief executive, if there is one. It must include the required information and be issued following the rules set out.

The certificate starts working as soon as you, the manufacturer, issue it. It stays current until you either cancel it or stop being a registered MCM.

There are rules about what needs to be in the certificate. These rules can be different for different types of modular components, different manufacturers, or depending on when the certificate is issued. The rules can also be different for other reasons.
