You can ask a registered Modular Component Manufacturer Certification Body (MCMCB) to certify you as a modular component manufacturer. To do this, you need to pay a fee if there is one, and apply to them.

The MCMCB will check if you can make modular components that meet the building code. If you want to design components too, they’ll check if you can do that properly as well.

They’ll also look at your policies, procedures, and systems to make sure they help you do a good job. These need to follow the rules set out in section 402(1)(uc)(i)(A).

There are other rules you need to follow too. These are in section 402(1)(uc)(i)(B) and some additional rules in section 272ZG(3).

If you get certified, they’ll tell you what kinds of modular components you can make and design.

When you apply, you need to do it in writing. You might need to follow specific steps if they tell you to. In your application, you need to say what kinds of components you want to make and design. You might also need to include other information if they ask for it.
