256: Chief executive may appoint dam owner accreditation body
or “The boss can choose someone to check if dam owners are doing a good job, and can also change their mind later.”

You could also call this:

“The law says someone important must decide how often to check on people who look after dams and what else they need to do.”

The chief executive has to make a notice that tells the dam owner accreditation body how often they need to check on accredited dam owners. This notice will say how often these checks, called audits, should happen at the very least. The chief executive can also add any other important information to this notice that they think is needed.

When the chief executive makes this notice, it becomes a type of law called secondary legislation. This means it needs to follow special rules about how it’s published, which you can find in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
