362T: Building contractor must provide prescribed information and documentation on completion of residential building work
or “When builders finish house work, they must give important papers to the homeowner and sometimes the local council.”

You could also call this:

“These rules make sure homeowners know who built their house and how to take care of it.”

The regulations made under section 362T(2) are meant to make sure that you, as the owner of a building, and anyone who owns the building in the future, know who did the building work. These rules also help you get information about how to look after the building over time.

The information and documents that these rules require might include:

  • Details about who the building contractor is
  • Any guarantees or insurance that the building contractor got for the work they did
  • Information about how to take care of the products used in the building

This helps you understand who did the work on your building, what protections you have, and how to keep your building in good condition for a long time.
