Building Act 2004

Building - Code compliance certificates, certificates of acceptance, and compliance schedules - Code compliance certificates

95A: Refusal to issue code compliance certificate

You could also call this:

“The council must explain in writing why they won't give you a building certificate.”

If a building consent authority decides not to give you a code compliance certificate, they have to tell you in writing. This written notice must explain two things:

  1. That they are not giving you the certificate.
  2. Why they are not giving it to you.

This helps you understand the reasons behind their decision to refuse the certificate.
