Regulation of building practitioners - Licensing and disciplining of building practitioners - How to become licensed

286: Entitlement to be licensed

You could also call this:

“This explains what you need to do to get a special building worker card.”

You can become a licensed building practitioner if you meet certain requirements. The Registrar needs to be satisfied that:

You meet the minimum standards for licensing. These standards apply to your specific area of work.

You haven’t been stopped from getting a license because of something the Board did under section 318.

In the last 5 years, you haven’t had your registration, license, or other recognition suspended or cancelled for disciplinary reasons in a similar job.

You’ve paid the required fee.

If you meet all these requirements, you’re entitled to be licensed as a building practitioner.
