“Rules for when and how quickly the local council must give you important building project information”

When you ask for a project information memorandum, the local council (called a territorial authority) has to give it to you within 20 working days. This is after you apply for one using section 31(1)(a) or section 32.

Sometimes, the council might need more information from you. If they do, they’ll ask for it using section 33(1)(b) or (c). When this happens, the 20-day countdown stops until you give them the information they need.

After you give them the extra information, the council has 10 working days to give you the project information memorandum.

The council can give you a new version of the project information memorandum if they need to. They can do this within the same time periods mentioned before. They might do this if they find a mistake in it, if something was left out, or if they get new information that changes what’s in the memorandum.
