342: Capacity and powers
or “The Board can only do what the law says it can do to carry out its job.”

You could also call this:

“The Board oversees and manages rules, complaints, appeals, and reviews for licensed building practitioners.”

The Board has several important jobs to do. You need to know that the Board approves rules for licensed building practitioners. These rules are made following specific guidelines.

The Board also handles complaints about licensed building practitioners. They investigate these complaints, listen to what people have to say, and can discipline practitioners if needed. This is all done according to a special part of the law.

If you’re not happy with some decisions made by the Registrar, you can appeal to the Board. They will hear your appeal based on rules set out in another part of the law.

The Board also keeps an eye on how well it’s doing its job. It reviews its own performance and tells the Minister about it. This includes looking at how it carries out its duties and uses its powers under this law.

The Board can ask a smaller group (called a subcommittee) to handle some of these jobs. This includes dealing with complaints and appeals. They can do this by following a specific rule in the law.
