Building Act 2004

Regulation of building practitioners - Licensing and disciplining of building practitioners - Registrar of Licensed Building Practitioners

311: Functions of Registrar

You could also call this:

“The Registrar keeps a list of licensed builders and helps make sure they're doing their job properly.”

The Registrar of Licensed Building Practitioners has several important jobs. You need to know what these jobs are.

The Registrar creates and looks after a list of licensed building practitioners. This list helps keep track of who is qualified to do certain building work.

The Registrar decides if people can get or keep their building licences. They can give out licences, take them away, or stop them for a while. They also do other tasks related to licensing.

The Registrar helps a group called the Board when people make complaints. They assist with looking into these complaints under sections 315 and 316.

The Registrar gives the Board the support it needs to do its job well. This includes things like paperwork and organisation.

Lastly, the Registrar does any other tasks that this law or other laws say they should do.
